ParentSolid Waste DisposalMt. Olive Transfer Station

All solid waste generated in Morris County and being disposed of is required by law to be delivered to one of two MCMUA solid waste transfer stations.   This waste flow control requirement is part of the NJDEP approved Morris County Solid Waste Management Plan.

From the transfer stations the waste is trucked to disposal facilities in eastern Pennsylvania owned and operated by Waste Management, Inc.  In January 2008 the MCMUA executed a 5-year contract with Waste Management of New Jersey, Inc. in response to a bid submitted on December 18, 2007.  The contract with Waste Management is to provide 3 operations as they relate to to provision of disposal services in Morris County.  These three operational responsibilities include:

  1. Operating the two MCMUA transfer stations;
  2. Provide transportation of the solid waste from the transfer stations to the disposal facilities, and finally;
  3. Provision of disposal capacity for the waste accepted at the two transfer stations.
