Waste ReductionToday, we are awakening to the fact that not all of the items that
were buried in the landfill should have been. With an emphasis on recycling and
conservation, the MCMUA is re-evaluating standard concepts of trash disposal and is
searching for more efficient ways to deal with municipal solid waste.
We have discovered that reuse is a more cost-effective and
environmentally-sound approach than landfilling or even recycling. Reuse promotes both the
environmental benefits of conserving our nations natural resources and of keeping
valuable materials out of landfills. Communities that develop programs to conserve and
reuse resources are also enhancing the growth of their business and charitable communities
and protecting the environment. Resource reuse translates into productive

Habitat for Humanity ReStore - located on Iron Mountain Road in Mine Hill. Shop,
volunteer or donate materials for sale at the ReStore. The
ReStore keeps building materials, furniture and appliances out of
the waste stream by accepting donations of these new and gently used
materials for sale at low prices. The proceeds fund
Morris Habitat for Humanity's home building projects.

The Market
Street Mission maintains a 25,000 square foot industrial
center, which houses a Thrift Store and warehouse, at the end of
George Street off Martin Luther King Avenue in Morristown. Among
the items offered for sale at bargain prices are new and used
furniture, clothing, housewares, appliances, sporting goods,
office furnishings, and knick-knacks. The Thrift Store accepts
donations of most items except toys, magazines, tires,
batteries, and weapons. Donations are tax deductible, and all
proceeds benefit the Mission. Mission trucks, operated by men in
the work therapy program, collect donated items on a weekly

sales fund our adult rehabilitation program, which helps over
