While the MCMUA regrets increasing the tipping fee, it
should be noted that the previous tipping fee increase instituted by
and for the MCMUA was in
February 2007
when the price was increased to $83.90/ton. Later, in
April 2008 the State of New Jersey added a $3.00/ton
recycling tax onto the tipping fee resulting in the price
increase to the current $86.90/ton. Finally, the MCMUA is
facing increased contractor and disposal costs associated with
operating the transfer stations, and the MCMUA is undertaking a
capital improvement program to keep the transfer stations safe
and efficient.
