MCMUA
Pays $118,000 to Municipalities for Recyclables
February
7, 2006, Morris Township, NJ: Twenty Morris
County municipalities have received a combined total of
$118,000 for the 19,000 tons of recyclable materials they sent to
the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) Recycling
Consolidation Center in Dover, combined with other materials
marketed through agreements with the MCMUA in 2005.
The amounts each municipality received are listed
below.
“While
market conditions in 2005 were slightly weaker than in 2004, they
still remained relatively strong resulting in good prices for
commodities.
We hope to see a continuation of good market conditions
throughout 2006,” said Kathleen Hourihan, district recycling
coordinator.
The
Recycling Consolidation Center is able to sell paper at a higher
quality, baled rather than loose and in greater volumes as
compared to an individual municipality.
Therefore prices commanded for the materials and marketing
arrangements are typically more stable.
