A "Catch the Fever" Mercury Thermometer Collection Program

The MCMUA offers three major programs to help Morris County residents, businesses and municipalities safely manage their household hazardous hazardous (HHW), hazardous, special and universal wastes.  These programs include:

  1. Permanent HHW Facility Located at the MCMUA's Mt. Olive transfer station in western Morris County. This facility is open throughout the year by appointment only.

    The MCMUA's permanent HHW facility
    Duke of Hazard
  2. HHW Disposal Days: Periodic disposal events conducted during a few weekends in the spring and fall at sites in eastern Morris County. These disposal days are open to Morris County residents only.  Commercial generators must use the permanent HHW facility or universal waste recycling program.

  3. Universal Waste Recycling at the Dover Recycling Consolidation Center
The universal waste recycling program enables the commercial, institutional and regulated hazardous waste generating community to recycling common, or universal wastes which have hazardous characteristics.  By recycling them with the MCMUA the generator doesn't have to manifest and transport them as hazardous waste with a licensed hazardous waste disposal firm.  This adds conveniences and can reduce costs. Materials accepted include:
    • Fluorescent Light Bulbs
    • Dry Cell Batteries
